Artinis Brite Lite

The entry point to fNIRS. Under 250 grams, wireless, 8 channels as standard or up to 10 with the flexibility package, and a Frontal version with a dedicated prefrontal headband. Upgradeable to a Brite at 27 channels when the work outgrows it.

Artinis Brite Lite

What is the Brite Lite?

The entry point to fNIRS, and the system we quote most often to a lab buying its first one. Under 250 grams, wireless, 8 channels as standard or up to 10 with the flexibility package. The control unit attaches to the headcap, so it works in the field, during exercise and outside the lab, with no backpack and nothing to carry.

Brite Lite Frontal is the same idea narrowed to the forehead. 8 channels, a dedicated prefrontal headband, and the shortest setup time in the family. For executive function, working memory and most of the sports and applied literature, that is the whole experiment.

Sample rate runs to 150 Hz over Bluetooth, or record offline to the device and pull the data later. Multi power gain control and ambient light correction are on both versions, which is what makes them workable on dark thick hair rather than only on the easy half of your subject pool. Short separation channels can be added.

The upgrade path is the reason to start here instead of waiting. Brite Lite goes up to a Brite at 27 channels. Brite Lite Frontal goes up to a Brite Frontal at 24 channels. Upgrades depend on availability and compatibility, so ask us before you count on one.

Our opinion, and it is ours - if the answer to "which cortical region" is one region, buy the Brite Lite and buy it now rather than saving for the flagship. A system in use beats a bigger system in a grant application.

Where we would not put it. Whole head coverage, source reconstruction, or any montage needing more than 10 channels. Tell us that is the plan and we will quote the Brite or the NIRSport2 instead.

Brite Lite or Brite Lite Frontal?

Brite Lite measures from any cortical region, 8 channels as standard and up to 10 with the flexibility package, on a headcap that covers the whole head so you can place optodes where you want them. Brite Lite Frontal is 8 channels on a dedicated prefrontal headband, with the shortest setup time in the family. If the work is prefrontal and stays prefrontal, buy the Frontal.

Is 8 channels enough to publish?

For prefrontal work it is. Executive function, working memory and most of the applied and sports literature run on 8 frontal channels. For a montage covering more than one region, or anything approaching image reconstruction, it is not, and you should be looking at the Brite or a NIRSport2.

Can I upgrade later?

Yes, and it is the reason to start here rather than saving. Brite Lite upgrades to a Brite at up to 27 channels. Brite Lite Frontal upgrades to a Brite Frontal at 24 channels. Upgrades depend on availability and compatibility, so ask us before you build a grant around one.

Does it work outside the lab?

That is what it is for. Under 250 grams, the control unit clips to the headcap, and there is no backpack. Record over Bluetooth at up to 150 Hz, or record offline to the device and pull the data afterwards. Multi power gain control and ambient light correction are what make outdoor and field recordings workable.

Is the Brite Lite available in Israel with local support?

Yes. NBT is the Israeli distributor for Artinis. We install, train and support here, Sunday to Thursday, on site when needed. We also distribute NIRx, so if your paradigm needs density rather than portability we will tell you that instead of selling you this.
