Artinis Brite Frontal
24 fixed channels over the prefrontal cortex on a 305 gram headband. No montage to plan, multi power gain control per channel, and hyperscanning with a second unit. The step up from the Brite Lite Frontal when 8 channels stop being enough.

What is the Brite Frontal?
A fixed 24-channel fNIRS device built for one job: the prefrontal cortex. Ten LED transmitters and eight photodiode receivers sit on an adjustable headband at 30 mm inter-optode spacing, wired into a control unit that weighs 305 grams with the battery in. No optode template to plan, no cap to fit. It goes on, measures oxy-, deoxy- and total hemoglobin concentration changes, and comes off in under a minute.
Multi power gain control finds the right light intensity per channel per participant, which matters more on dark or thick hair than the spec sheet suggests. Up to 3 hours on battery, extendable with the EverGo pack. Bluetooth or offline recording to the device, 100+ hours of storage either way.
Key Features
- 24 channels on a fixed frontal template, no montage design needed
- Multi power gain control across four light levels plus an automatic setting
- 3-axis accelerometer and 3-axis gyroscope for motion data
- Ambient light correction built in, so it works outdoors
- Hyperscanning with a second unit, synchronised in OxySoft or Brite Connect
- Data exports to .snirf for Homer and MNE Python
Where this is the wrong buy
If the work moves outside the prefrontal cortex even once, this is the wrong device. The template is fixed at 24 channels over frontal cortex only. For motor, temporal or parietal work, or anything needing more than one region on the same cap, the Brite is the right buy, and it costs more.

Brite Frontal or Brite Lite Frontal?
Both are prefrontal-only devices. Brite Lite Frontal is 8 channels, under 250 grams, and the shortest setup time in the family. Brite Frontal is 24 channels on the same fixed frontal template, with 10 transmitters and 8 receivers against the Lite's simpler build. If 8 channels covers the paradigm, the Lite is enough and cheaper. If the montage needs denser coverage of the frontal cortex, take this one.
Why 24 channels and not the 27 the full Brite offers?
The Brite gives up to 27 channels on a configurable template across any cortical region, which means planning the montage. The Brite Frontal is fixed: 24 channels, frontal only, no planning. Trade flexibility for setup time. If the study only ever needs the prefrontal cortex, the fixed template is not a limitation.
Can I run hyperscanning with two of these?
Yes. OxySoft and Brite Connect both synchronise multiple Brite family devices into one measurement file. Pick, Fahoum, Zoabi and Shamay-Tsoory used this setup for interbrain coupling in group creativity, published in Communications Biology in 2024.
Does thick or dark hair ruin the signal?
Less than it used to. The receivers are the newer high-sensitivity type, and multi power gain control runs four fixed levels plus an automatic setting per channel. It will not eliminate the problem on very thick dark hair, and no fNIRS device does. Ask us before you build a study around a population where that is likely.
Is it available in Israel with local support?
Yes. NBT is the Artinis distributor in Israel. We install, train and support here, Sunday to Thursday, on site when needed. We also distribute NIRx, so if the paradigm needs more than one cortical region we will point you at the Brite or a NIRSport2 instead of selling you this.
