Multi-function Holders
RWD Multi-function Holders extend any stereotaxic arm to carry large syringes, headstages, amplifiers, and microdrills. The range includes a syringe holder for two-point microinjection grip, a headstage holder for TBSI and Plexon amplifiers, and a microdrill holder for depth-controlled craniotomy via the Z-axis manipulator.

What are RWD Multi-function Holders?
RWD Multi-function Holders are a family of stereotaxic arm accessories designed to secure a wide variety of instruments beyond standard electrodes — including large syringes, headstages, amplifiers, and microdrills. These holders mount directly to any RWD stereotaxic manipulator arm, extending the functionality of the frame to support complete in vivo electrophysiology, injection, and craniotomy workflows from a single platform.
The range covers micro-syringe holders for microinjection protocols, headstage holders compatible with popular recording systems from TBSI and Plexon, and a dedicated microdrill holder that controls drilling depth via the manipulator to protect brain tissue from over-drilling. All holders are machined from durable materials and maintain compatibility with the standard 68207 V Attachment rod interface.
Key Features
- 68202 Large Probe Holder: Lateral fixation V-groove holder for 6–12 mm diameter instruments — handles large syringe barrels, drill handles, and thick electrodes that standard 68201 cannot accommodate.
- 68218 Syringe Holder: Purpose-designed for microinjection, holding both the syringe body (6–12 mm) and the needle (0.3–1.5 mm) simultaneously for a stable, two-point grip that prevents needle wobble during injection.
- 68106 Headstage Holder: Specifically designed to mount micro-amplifiers and headstages (e.g. TBSI, Plexon microelectrode amplifier) to the stereotaxic arm for in vivo electrophysiology setups.
- 68605 Microdrill Holder: Secures the microdrill to the stereotaxic instrument, allowing controlled craniotomy depth via the Z-axis manipulator. Protects brain tissue from excessive drilling with precise depth control.
