MSR Microfluidic Sensor Reader by Elveflow
The MSR Sensor Reader is Elveflow's acquisition interface for up to 4 microfluidic sensors simultaneously, with 200 Hz sampling rate, 16-bit resolution, and 5 ms response time. Fully compatible with the Elveflow MFS, MPS, MFP and MBD sensor families plus third-party analog sensors, it is the ideal supplement to the OB1 for high-precision experimental monitoring.

What is the MSR Microfluidic Sensor Reader?
The MSR is Elveflow's compact sensor acquisition interface, designed to connect up to 4 pressure or flow sensors simultaneously and stream their readings into the ESI software in real time. Several MSR units can be controlled in parallel, scaling the number of sensors well beyond a single device.
With a 200 Hz sampling rate, 16-bit resolution, and a measurement response time down to 5 ms, the MSR is the ideal supplement to the OB1 flow controller when you need closed-loop feedback over experimental parameters. It is open-interface, so it also accepts third-party analog sensors (0–10 V input range).
Key Features
- 4 simultaneous sensor inputs: M8 connectors, daisy-chain multiple MSR units for more channels.
- High sampling rate: Up to 200 Hz acquisition with 16-bit resolution.
- Fast response: Down to 5 ms response time and sub-resolution noise.
- Wide compatibility: Works with Elveflow MFS, MPS, MFP, MBD sensors and third-party analog devices.
- Noise reduction: Embedded 3rd-order 60 Hz low-pass filter, activatable per channel.
- Compact format: 91 × 69 × 29 mm, 320 g — easy to integrate anywhere on the bench.
Applications
The MSR is a workhorse for any microfluidic setup that needs precise, multi-channel sensor monitoring. Common applications include:
- Pressure sensor feedback loops for closed-loop flow control with the OB1.
- Microfluidic bacterial studies with continuous flow monitoring.
- Controlled microfluidic sample injection with synchronised pressure and flow logging.
- Nanoparticle synthesis by flow focusing, with real-time flow validation.
- Mechanical cell compression assays requiring pressure feedback.

What is the MSR Microfluidic Sensor Reader and what is it used for?
The MSR is Elveflow's microfluidic sensor reader, a compact acquisition interface that connects up to 4 pressure or flow sensors simultaneously. With 200 Hz sampling, 16-bit resolution, and 5 ms response time, it is the ideal supplement to the OB1 flow controller for high-precision, real-time monitoring of microfluidic experiments.
What research applications is the MSR suited for?
The MSR is suited for closed-loop pressure feedback with the OB1, multi-channel sensor monitoring, nanoparticle synthesis flow validation, mechanical cell compression assays, microfluidic bacterial studies, and any application requiring precise simultaneous tracking of pressure or flow at multiple points of the setup.
What are the key technical features of the MSR?
The MSR (catalog: MSR) accepts up to 4 sensors via M8 connectors, samples at up to 200 Hz with 16-bit resolution, has a 0–10 V input range, and offers an embedded 60 Hz low-pass noise reduction filter per channel. It is fully compatible with Elveflow MFS, MPS, MFP and MBD sensors as well as third-party analog devices.
Is the MSR available in Israel with local support?
Yes. NBT Ltd distributes Elveflow microfluidic products in Israel. Our team provides local support and application guidance for the MSR and the complete Elveflow microfluidic automation ecosystem.
How does the MSR integrate with Elveflow systems?
The MSR plugs directly into the Elveflow ESI software and runs alongside the OB1 flow controller, enabling closed-loop pressure or flow feedback control. Multiple MSR units can be chained to expand channel count, and all data streams are recorded and exported as CSV through ESI.
