Low-Cost Induction Chambers for SomnoSuite

Kent Scientific’s right-sized induction chambers for the SomnoSuite® and SomnoFlo® low-flow vaporizers, available in 0.47 L, 1.0 L, 2.0 L and 3.0 L. Smaller internal volumes mean faster induction and less waste anesthetic gas per session. Shatter-resistant plastic, resistant to anesthesia chemicals, cleanable to 100 °C, and shipped with a 12" tubing set ready to connect.

Low-Cost Induction Chambers for SomnoSuite

What are the Low-Cost Induction Chambers?

Kent Scientific’s Low-Cost Induction Chambers are mouse- and rat-sized chambers engineered specifically for low-flow electronic vaporizers — the SomnoSuite® and SomnoFlo® — with a smaller internal volume than traditional chambers. Smaller volume means faster induction, less anesthetic used per session, and less waste gas to scavenge.

Four chamber volumes are available (0.47 L, 1.0 L, 2.0 L, 3.0 L) so a single SomnoSuite can be configured for everything from neonatal mouse studies to large rat cohorts. Each chamber ships with a 12" tubing set that connects directly to the inlet and outlet of any Kent low-flow vaporizer.

Key Features

  • Four chamber sizes (0.47–3.0 L): Match the chamber to the subject — mice, juveniles, adult rats and large rodents.
  • Small internal volume: Reduces induction time and the amount of waste anesthetic gas produced per session.
  • Shatter-resistant plastic: Robust for daily vivarium use and easy to inspect for animal visibility.
  • Anesthetic-chemical resistant: Compatible with isoflurane and sevoflurane workflows.
  • Easy to clean: Withstands cleaning up to 100 °C.
  • Plug-and-play tubing: 12" tubing set with low-flow vaporizer connections included.

Why a sized induction chamber matters

The most common cause of avoidable waste anesthetic gas in a rodent surgery is using a chamber that is bigger than the animal needs. Excess chamber volume means slower induction, more anesthetic agent vented before the animal is at surgical depth, and a larger volume of waste gas to scavenge afterward. Kent’s Low-Cost Chambers solve this by giving each lab the right volume for each species and life stage — a 0.47 L chamber for a 25 g mouse, a 3.0 L chamber for a large rat cohort.

Paired with the SomnoSuite or SomnoFlo, a properly sized chamber compounds the system’s low-flow advantage: small internal volume + weight-scaled vapor delivery = the lowest total anesthetic footprint of any conventional bench setup.

Typical Use Cases

  • SomnoSuite® and SomnoFlo® induction for mice and rats.
  • Multi-cage cohorts where a single chamber needs to cover both juveniles and adults.
  • Surgical suites running tight occupational waste-gas limits.
  • Imaging suites where induction time directly affects scan throughput.

Peer-reviewed research using Kent Scientific Low-Cost Induction Chambers

Right-sized induction chambers are now standard practice in low-flow anesthesia workflows. Studies that reference Kent’s Low-Cost Chambers typically describe SomnoSuite® or SomnoFlo® induction in mouse and rat protocols where induction time and waste gas footprint matter.
