What is the SomnoSuite Low-Flow Anesthesia System?
The SomnoSuite® from Kent Scientific is an innovative low-flow anesthesia delivery system designed specifically for mice and rats. Unlike traditional vaporizer-and-stand systems, the SomnoSuite uses a precision syringe pump and an integrated digital vaporizer that delivers anesthetic at flow rates proportional to the animal’s weight. The result: animals are anesthetized using less than 1 mL of isoflurane per hour in typical use — a fraction of the consumption of conventional vaporizers — with proportionally less waste anesthetic gas exposure for personnel.
Every SomnoSuite ships pre-calibrated for isoflurane and sevoflurane, supports up to two animals simultaneously, runs on room air or compressed gas, and includes the RightTemp® temperature monitor for integrated thermoregulation.

Why low-flow anesthesia matters
Traditional small-animal vaporizers operate at flow rates of 0.5–2 L/min regardless of whether the patient weighs 20 g or 200 g. That over-flow is wasted anesthetic and a continuous source of waste gas exposure for the technician. The SomnoSuite’s precision syringe-pump design scales delivery to the animal: a 25 g mouse receives a fraction of the flow used for a 300 g rat. Across a typical study, isoflurane consumption can drop by an order of magnitude, with proportionally less ambient exposure and a smaller scavenging burden.
The architecture also removes the annual maintenance footprint of traditional vaporizers — active vaporization technology means no annual calibration is required, and the system ships with a no-calibration certificate suitable for facility inspections.
