ibidi µ-Slide 18 Well
Eighteen wells on a standard 25.5 x 75.5 mm slide footprint, 100 µl and 0.34 cm² each, on a #1.5 polymer coverslip bottom. Eighteen conditions or six in triplicate, stained in the wells and imaged in one pass with no coverslipping and no cells lost in transfer.

What is the µ-Slide 18 Well?
Eighteen wells on a standard microscope slide footprint, 25.5 x 75.5 mm. Each well takes 100 µl and gives 0.34 cm² of growth area, on a #1.5 ibidi Polymer Coverslip bottom 180 µm thick. Eighteen conditions, or six conditions in triplicate, on one slide that goes straight onto the stage.
The reason to use it is cost per data point. An antibody titration across eighteen wells at 100 µl each consumes very little reagent and very few cells, and the whole thing is imaged in one pass without moving anything.
Immunofluorescence without the coverslipping
Fix, permeabilise, block and stain in the wells. The bottom is already coverslip grade, so there is no mounting a coverslip and no cells lost in the transfer. The walls do not leak between wells during the incubations, which is the part that actually decides whether an 18 well format is usable.
Where I would not spend the money
If the method is TIRF, single molecule detection or super-resolution, buy the Glass Bottom version, 81817, and pay the difference. For widefield and confocal immunofluorescence the polymer bottom here is the better value and I would not push you to the glass. If eighteen wells is more than you will realistically fill, the µ-Slide 8 Well gives more area and volume per well on the same footprint and is easier to handle.

Why eighteen wells rather than eight?
Cost per data point. At 100 µl and 0.34 cm² per well, a titration across eighteen wells uses very little antibody and very few cells, and it is imaged in one pass. If you will not realistically fill eighteen wells, the µ-Slide 8 Well gives more area and volume per well on the same footprint and is easier to handle.
Do the wells leak into each other during staining?
No. That is the thing that decides whether an 18 well format is usable at all, and it is why the walls are moulded the way they are. Fix, permeabilise, block and stain in the wells.
Do I need to mount a coverslip afterwards?
No. The bottom is already coverslip grade at 180 µm, so the slide goes straight onto an inverted microscope. Nothing is transferred and nothing is lost.
81816, 81811 or 81817?
81816 is ibiTreat on a polymer bottom, which is what most immunofluorescence needs. 81811 is the uncoated version, for your own coating. 81817 is the Glass Bottom version, and it is the one to buy for TIRF, single molecule detection and super-resolution. For widefield and confocal I would stay with 81816 and keep the difference.
Is it available in Israel with local support?
