The ibidi Heating System Universal Fit is a microscope stage heating solution for maintaining cells at physiological temperature during live-cell imaging. It consists of a heating insert and controller that fits ibidi µ-Slides and µ-Dishes, and is compatible with a wide range of inverted microscope stages without requiring a full enclosed incubator chamber.

What temperatures can be maintained?

The ibidi Heating System is designed to maintain temperatures between room temperature and 45°C, with stability typically within ±0.2°C at 37°C. The controller uses a feedback sensor placed near the sample for accurate temperature regulation.

Is the Heating System suitable for use without CO2 control?

Yes. The Heating System can be used independently for experiments with HEPES-buffered media that do not require CO2, or combined with ibidi’s CO2 cover solutions for full atmospheric control.

Which ibidi slides are compatible with the Universal Fit Heating System?

The Universal Fit configuration is designed to accommodate standard ibidi µ-Slides, µ-Dishes, and µ-Plates. The “Universal Fit” designation means the heating insert can be placed on a wide range of microscope stages without microscope-specific adapters.

Can the Heating System be combined with an ibidi stage top incubator?

The Heating System provides a simplified and cost-effective solution for temperature-only control. For combined CO2 and temperature control, ibidi’s Silver Line Stage Top Incubators are recommended, as they integrate both functions with more precise environmental sealing.
