Electrode Holders
RWD Electrode Holders securely position electrodes, glass pipettes, and syringe needles on any RWD stereotaxic arm, with clamping ranges from 0.3 mm to 4.0 mm. Specialized dual-electrode models (68210 and 68216) enable two electrodes to be controlled independently with minimum 200 μm spacing, supporting paired electrophysiology and stimulation-recording protocols.

What are RWD Electrode Holders?
RWD Electrode Holders are precision clamping accessories that mount directly to stereotaxic instrument arms to securely position electrodes, glass pipettes, syringe needles, and hypodermic tubing during neuroscience experiments. Covering clamping ranges from 0.3 mm up to 4.0 mm diameter, the range encompasses standard corner-mount, side-clamp, and specialized dual-electrode holders designed for electrophysiology recordings where two electrodes must be positioned within 200 μm of each other.
The dual-electrode models (68210 and 68216) allow independent control of two closely-spaced electrodes from a single arm, enabling paired recording or stimulation protocols without requiring a second manipulator arm. All holders feature V-groove or precision clamp mechanisms that grip securely without crushing delicate glass pipettes or coated electrodes.
Key Features
- 68201 Standard Probe Holder-Corner: V-groove design for universal use with syringe needles and electrodes of 0.3–1.5 mm diameter. The most commonly used holder for stereotaxic injection and recording.
- 68213 Standard Probe Holder-Side Clamp: Similar function to 68201 but with a side-clamp mechanism, covering a wider range of 0.4–4.0 mm diameter — useful for larger syringe barrels or thick electrodes.
- 68210 Electrode Holder: Specialized for electrophysiology with dual-electrode support. Two electrodes are controlled individually and can be positioned very close together; clamping range 0.7–2.5 mm.
- 68216 Electrode Holder: Advanced dual-electrode model for dual-operating electrophysiology; electrodes can be placed as close as 200 μm apart; clamping range 0.4–1.5 mm.
- V-Groove Gripping: Prevents rolling or slipping of cylindrical probes during manipulation, maintaining precise electrode placement throughout the experiment.
