Axon™ Digidata® 1550B plus HumSilencer®
The Axon™ Digidata® 1550B plus HumSilencer® is the premier patch-clamp digitizer for electrophysiology — delivering simultaneous 500 kHz sampling on 8 channels with 16-bit resolution, and the industry-first HumSilencer® technology that intelligently eliminates 50/60 Hz line-frequency noise without any signal distortion.

The Digitizer That Enables World-Class Patch-Clamp Data Acquisition
The Axon™ Digidata® 1550B plus HumSilencer® is one of the most advanced analog-to-digital signal converters available for electrophysiology research. Designed for patch-clamp, voltage-clamp, and current-clamp experiments, it combines 16-bit resolution at up to 500 kHz sampling with the revolutionary HumSilencer® technology — a first-of-its-kind, intelligent noise-cancellation system built directly into the digitizer hardware.
The Digidata 1550B pairs seamlessly with pCLAMP™ 11 Software and is compatible with the full range of Axon Instruments amplifiers including the MultiClamp 700B and Axoclamp 900A. Its USB 2.0 connection requires no separate power supply, making it straightforward to integrate into any patch-clamp rig.
Key Features
- HumSilencer® Noise Cancellation: Learns, adapts, and eliminates local 50/60 Hz line-frequency electrical hum and high-frequency harmonics from up to four input channels simultaneously — in less than one second. Unlike notch filters, HumSilencer causes no signal distortion, no phase shift, no amplitude attenuation, and no DC offset.
- 500 kHz Simultaneous Sampling: All eight analog input channels can be digitized simultaneously at up to 500 kHz per channel, enabling the acquisition of fast, high-resolution ionic currents with exceptional temporal detail.
- 16-Bit Resolution: With 16-bit ADC resolution across an input range of ±10 V, the Digidata 1550B resolves small, physiologically relevant signals with minimal quantization error.
- 8 Analog Input + 8 Analog Output Channels: Supports complex multi-channel recording configurations — essential for multi-electrode setups, voltage-clamp ramps, and pharmacology protocols requiring simultaneous analog output commands.
- Three HumSilencer Configurations: Choose the model that matches your setup: 1550B4 (4-channel HumSilencer), 1550B1 (1-channel), or 1550B0 (no HumSilencer), all sharing the same core digitizer platform.
- USB 2.0 Connectivity: Plug-and-play USB connection with a 3-meter braided cable — no PCIe card, no separate power brick. Clean, minimal bench footprint.
- TTL I/O and TAG Input: Dedicated digital I/O lines for synchronizing external devices such as shutters, perfusion systems, and stimulators. Rising-edge sensitive TAG input for event timestamping.
