What is the Unicorn Suite?
The Unicorn Suite is the complete software environment for the Unicorn Hybrid Black and Unicorn Naked BCI. It ships with every headset and covers the whole path from raw signal to finished application: acquisition and recording, filtering and artefact suppression, real-time frequency analysis, ready-to-use BCI applications, and programming interfaces for building your own.
The core installation includes Unicorn Recorder, Unicorn Bandpower, the Concentration Performance Index, the Brain Buddy, Platformer and Puzzle games, the C and .NET APIs, and the LSL and UDP interface apps. Additional packages extend it further: the Unicorn Speller, Python API, Simulink Interface, Unity Interface and Blondy Check.

- Unicorn Recorder: Acquire, visualise and record EEG with pre-defined cascading notch and bandpass filters plus OSCAR artefact filtering. Reads triggers and sends data via LSL or UDP.
- Unicorn Bandpower: Continuous bandpower estimation across 8 channels for delta, theta, beta low, beta mid, beta high and gamma.
- OSCAR artefact removal: Suppress artefacts and extract specific frequency bands without leaving the acquisition software.

Unicorn Speller
The Unicorn Speller is a P300-based spelling application bundled with Unicorn Painting. It offers a range of speller boards covering letters and numbers for communication and characters for control, and it is the application most often used to demonstrate a genuinely useful BCI to a non-specialist audience.
Unicorn Blondy Check
Blondy Check uses the P300 component of the visual evoked potential to categorise images by user interest. Custom picture sets can be created and ranked according to the EEG response, which makes it well suited to neuromarketing research and preference studies.
Programming interfaces
The Python API connects Python applications directly to the Unicorn Hybrid Black and Naked BCI. The Simulink Interface links the headsets to MATLAB Simulink for real-time processing and for importing recorded data. The Unity Interface supports 2D and 3D BCI game development. The C and .NET APIs come as standard with every Suite installation.
Real-time applications included
The Concentration Performance Index quantifies cognitive performance in real time on a 0 to 100 percent scale. Originally developed for high-altitude medicine, it also serves as a straightforward measure of concentration during work or study. Brain Buddy is a cooperative game designed with accessibility in mind, where one player controls avatars by keyboard while the other alters the environment through BCI. The Platformer and Puzzle games use concentration-based selection to clear obstacles and flip puzzle pieces.
