FAQ
What is the difference between the CO2 and CO2/O2 Silver Line incubators?
The CO2/O2 Silver Line incubator adds active oxygen control on top of CO2 and temperature regulation, enabling hypoxic or hyperoxic conditions. This is essential for ischemia-reperfusion models, tumor microenvironment studies, and research requiring precise control of dissolved oxygen levels in the culture medium.
What O2 concentrations can be achieved?
The CO2/O2 Silver Line incubator can regulate oxygen concentration from approximately 0.1% (near anoxic) up to ambient (20.9%), depending on the gas supply available. Combined nitrogen and CO2 gas mixtures are typically required for hypoxic conditions.
How quickly does the incubator establish hypoxic conditions?
The equilibration time depends on the incubator volume and gas flow rate, but the enclosed chamber design of the Silver Line ensures rapid O2 displacement. For tight hypoxic conditions, ibidi recommends pre-flushing the chamber before placing the sample.
Is the CO2/O2 Silver Line compatible with ibidi slides and µ-Dishes?
Yes. All standard ibidi µ-Slides, µ-Dishes, µ-Plates, and sticky-Slides can be used within the CO2/O2 Silver Line incubator, with appropriate stage adapters where required.
Can the CO2/O2 incubator be used on any inverted microscope?
Yes. The Silver Line incubators are available in microscope-specific configurations for Leica, Zeiss, Nikon, and Olympus inverted microscopes, ensuring a correct fit and minimal dead volume for gas exchange.
Is the ibidi CO2/O2 Silver Line incubator available and supported in Israel?
Yes. The ibidi Stage Top Incubator CO2/O2 Silver Line is distributed and supported in Israel by NBT Ltd. Our team can advise on gas supply requirements, hypoxia protocols, and optimal ibidi slide selection for your specific imaging setup.
