CMA Microdialysis Perfusion Fluids
This perfusion fluid is especially developed for microdialysis use. Isotonic, non-buffered, sterile, ready for use.

The perfusion fluid is intentionally non-buffered so the fluid cannot have any impact on the tissue pH. The fluid will automatically take on the tissue pH.
Perfusion Fluid CNS Dextran. Is recommended for limiting the loss of perfusion fluid into the CNS tissues, especially when using high cut-off probes (55 -and 100 kDa cut-off).
Artificial CSF Perfusion Fluid is an alternative to the above Perfusion Fluid CNS. There are small variations in composition and the Artificial CSF Perfusion Fluid is a buffered solution with pH 7.2 +/- 0.1.

CMA Perfusion Fluids are isotonic sterile perfusion fluids specially developed for microdialysis use. Two types are available: T1 fluid for use in peripheral tissues and CNS fluid for use in studies of the central nervous system.
The CNS perfusion fluid can be provided with or without Dextran. The Perfusion Fluid CNS with Dextran is recommended for limiting the loss of perfusion fluid into the CNS tissues, especially when using high cut-off probes (55 and 100 kDa cut-off) in rats and mice. For more details, see the corresponding Datasheet "Perfusion Fluid CNS with Dextran for Microdialysis" in the Downloads section.
They are conveniently packed in glass bottles, 7.5 mL, ready to use. Cap is re-sealable.

59-7316 Artificial cerebrospinal fluid (aCSF) is commonly used when sampling from brain interstitial fluid. This solution closely matches the electrolyte concentrations of CSF. It is prepared from high purity water and analytical grade reagents. It is microfiltered and sterile. Final Ion Concentrations (in mM): Na 150; K 3.0; Ca 1.4; Mg 0.8; P 1.0; Cl 155. pH 7.2 +/-0.1. Supplied as a package of six 25 ml vial.

What is the CMA Microdialysis Perfusion Fluids used for in neuroscience research?
CMA Microdialysis Perfusion Fluids are used to perfuse microdialysis probes implanted in the brain or peripheral tissue, maintaining probe patency and enabling collection of extracellular samples for neurochemical analysis.
Which perfusion fluid composition is appropriate for brain microdialysis?
CMA offers artificial cerebrospinal fluid (aCSF) compositions optimized for brain microdialysis, balanced for osmolarity and ion concentrations to minimize tissue damage and maintain neuronal viability during prolonged sampling sessions.
Are CMA Perfusion Fluids compatible with all CMA probe types?
Yes. CMA Perfusion Fluids are designed to be compatible with the full range of CMA microdialysis probes and are recommended to ensure optimal recovery rates and prevent membrane fouling during in vivo experiments.
What analytes can be measured using CMA Microdialysis Perfusion Fluids?
When used with appropriate downstream analysis (HPLC, LC-MS), CMA microdialysis perfusion fluids enable collection of samples containing dopamine, serotonin, glutamate, GABA, acetylcholine, and other neurochemicals from the extracellular space.
How should CMA Perfusion Fluids be stored?
CMA Perfusion Fluids should be stored as indicated on the product packaging — typically at room temperature or refrigerated. They are sterile and ready-to-use, but should be discarded according to the expiry date to prevent contamination of experiments.
