What's New in Satori 2.0?

Since the first launch of Satori in 2022, Brain Innovation and NIRx have been collecting feedback from fNIRS scientists about the most important features to include in the next version. Satori 2.0 introduces three major additions that enhance data preprocessing and analysis capabilities.

1. Python Integration

One of the most prominent additions is Python integration directly within the Satori User Interface. Researchers can harness the power of existing Python algorithms and develop custom functionalities, enabling the rapid expansion of fNIRS algorithms and incorporation of novel features developed by the scientific community.

There are two ways Python is integrated:

• Python Scripts executable directly from the Satori header menu, giving full control over data processing pipelines.
• Python-Based Workflow Modules within the Workflow Manager, enabling seamless pre-processing or post-processing of data with pre-built example scripts supported by NIRx and Brain Innovation.

2. Data Plotter

Satori 2.0 introduces a new data plotter that enables visualization of channels from different datasets simultaneously and the ability to include or exclude specific processing steps. By comparing different pre-processing steps, zooming in on time series data, and toggling channel visibility, researchers gain deeper insights into their data quickly and easily. The data plotter also allows adding peripheral physiology data from NIRxWINGS for comprehensive analysis.

3. Integrated User Guide

Improved documentation features now accompany each processing step in the modules within the workflow manager and certified Python scripts. A series of training videos is also available on the NIRx YouTube channel. This comprehensive documentation helps users quickly understand the functionalities of and concepts behind Satori's data analysis tools.

Satori 2.0 Introductory Webinar

In August 2023, Dr. Jeremy Burnison from NIRx and Michael Lührs from Brain Innovation gave an overview of Satori and introduced all new features in version 2.0. The webinar is available to watch free online.
