Orofacial Stimulation Test
The Orofacial Stimulation Test measures thermal and mechanical hypersensitivity of the orofacial area in rats (mouse adaptor available). For trigeminal nerve pain research, ORO-Software enables simultaneous data collection from up to 16 cages for high-throughput studies.

The Orofacial Stimulation Test measures hypersensitivity to thermal (hot and cold) and/or mechanical stimulation of the orofacial area in rats, with a mouse adaptor available. Designed for research into a wide range of pain conditions involving the trigeminal nerve, it offers high-throughput capabilities with ORO-Software recording simultaneous data from up to 16 cages.

Research Applications
The Orofacial Stimulation Test is designed for research on trigeminal neuralgia, migraine, and orofacial pain disorders. By applying thermal or mechanical stimuli to the face of restrained rodents, it enables assessment of facial pain sensitivity in models of inflammatory, neuropathic, and cancer pain affecting the trigeminal nerve, with high-throughput ORO-Software for multi-cage studies.

The Orofacial Stimulation Test (Cat. 31300, Fehrenbacher-Henry-Hargreaves method) is used in trigeminal pain, orofacial neuropathy, and dental pain research. It assesses feeding behavior in the presence of thermal or mechanical orofacial stimuli as a measure of pain hypersensitivity without requiring animal restraint.
What stimulation modalities are available?
Both thermal stimulation (water temperature adjustable from ambient to 70°C) and mechanical stimulation (3 wire stimulators of different gauges plus 1 blank) are available.
Is the test suitable for mice?
The standard setup is designed for rats; a mouse adaptor is available for studies with mice.
How many cages can be monitored simultaneously?
ORO-Software allows simultaneous data collection from up to 16 cages, enabling high-throughput screening studies.
What does the Fehrenbacher-Henry-Hargreaves method assess?
This method assesses orofacial thermal sensitivity by measuring face-grooming behavior after thermal stimulation of the orofacial area, providing an objective pain endpoint.
What is the warranty?
12 months standard warranty, extendable to 24 months upon product registration.
