Arqus – Extreme Performance Motion Capture Camera
Qualisys' highest-performing motion capture camera platform. Four models from 5 MP up to 26 MP, full-FOV frame rates up to 1,400 fps, marker detection at 50 m, full-pipeline latency down to 3 ms, daisy-chained networking and an optional weatherproof IP67 housing for outdoor research.

The industry's highest-performing motion capture camera platform
The Arqus is engineered as the highest-performing motion capture camera platform in the industry, by the team behind Qualisys' proven Miqus camera line. Built around high-resolution image sensors, a powerful strobe and Qualisys' advanced marker detection algorithms, Arqus delivers exceptional accuracy — even at distance, even outdoors, and even at frame rates other cameras cannot match.
Arqus is available in four models — A5, A9, A12 and A26 — ranging from the industry's highest full-FOV frame rate (1,400 fps at 1 MP) to the industry's highest resolution motion capture sensor (26 MP at 150 fps). The A12's optional motorized lens lets you control focus and aperture directly from QTM. All models share the same compact die-cast aluminium body, OLED status display, LED indicator ring and integrated Manfrotto / Arca-Swiss quick-release mount.
Key Features

Arqus cameras are used in peer-reviewed studies across biomechanics, clinical gait analysis, sports science, animal locomotion, robotics and outdoor field measurements. The platform is widely cited for high-resolution, high-speed marker-based 3D motion capture in both indoor labs and challenging outdoor environments.
What's the difference between the four Arqus models (A5, A9, A12, A26)?
All four Arqus models share the same body, OLED display, 24-LED strobe and lens platform — the difference is the image sensor and the trade-off between resolution, frame rate and capture distance. The A5 is the speed champion (5 MP @ 700 fps full-FOV; 1 MP @ 1,400 fps in high-speed mode). The A9 is the wide-volume all-rounder (9 MP @ 300 fps with the widest 82° × 48° field of view). The A12 is the long-range workhorse (12 MP @ 300 fps, 40 m measurement distance with 16 mm markers, optional motorized EF-mount lens controlled from QTM). The A26 is the highest-resolution motion capture camera in the industry (26 MP @ 150 fps, 5120 × 5120). Pick by your trade-off of accuracy, frame rate and capture volume — and feel free to mix models in the same system.
Can Arqus cameras be used outdoors and in harsh weather?
Yes. Each Arqus model is available in a Protected housing rated IP67 / NEMA 6, with industrial push-pull connectors and an extended operating range of −15 to 45 °C (5 to 113 °F). Combined with embedded active filtering, the optional Sun Filter and a strobe 50% more powerful than previous Qualisys models, Arqus distinguishes markers from the background even in bright sunlight, rain, dust and cold. The Standard housing (IP30 / NEMA 1, 0 to 35 °C) is the right choice for indoor lab use.
Can Arqus cameras be mixed with my existing Miqus or Oqus cameras?
Yes. Arqus is natively compatible with both Miqus and Oqus cameras and runs in the same Qualisys Track Manager (QTM) system on the same daisy-chain. You can extend an existing Miqus or Oqus rig with Arqus units — for example, adding A26 cameras for higher resolution or Protected Arqus models for outdoor capability — without replacing your installed cameras.
How much cabling does daisy-chaining actually save?
A typical 24-camera Arqus system covering a 30 × 10 m (100 × 33 ft) volume uses up to 80% less cabling than a conventional star-wired motion capture rig. A single combined data + power Gigabit Ethernet cable runs from each camera to the next — no Ethernet switch, no long runs back to a central hub. Portable rigs deploy faster, permanent installs look cleaner, and there are far fewer cables to troubleshoot.
Is the Arqus suitable for real-time applications like robotics, VR and live production?
Yes. Camera-only latency is as low as 0.7 ms (A5 high-speed mode), and end-to-end latency through the full QTM software pipeline is 3 ms — fast enough for real-time control loops. The Camera Sync Unit supports Trig in, Sync in/out, Video Genlock, PTP, SMPTE and IRIG for tight synchronization with external hardware. Real-time SDKs are available for QTM, MATLAB, LabVIEW, Unity, Unreal Engine, MotionBuilder, Maya, iClone Motion LIVE and ROS — making Arqus a strong fit for robotics, UAV tracking, virtual production, VR/AR, OEM integrations and broadcast.
