The BMS400600 is AMTI's most popular mountable force plate and the most versatile product in their lineup. As part of the OPTIMA Biomechanics Measurement Series (BMS), it offers superior accuracy, high natural frequency, and broad application flexibility in an affordable package. The 40×60 cm size accommodates average human stride lengths and can be used in pairs for bilateral jump or balance assessments, or combined into full instrumented floor systems.

Standard or High Frequency

The BMS400600 is available in Standard or High Frequency (HF) models. The HF model uses a composite top plate to achieve natural frequencies up to 480–570 Hz (Fx/Fy) and 720–730 Hz (Fz), ideal for highly dynamic applications or high-vibration environments. Three capacity models are available: 1000 lb (4450 N), 2000 lb (8900 N), and 4000 lb (17,800 N) — note the 4000 lb model is not available in HF.

AMTI's OPTIMA calibration technology delivers a 10-fold accuracy improvement over standard force platforms, with measurement accuracy of ±0.5% of applied load and COP accuracy better than 0.5 mm. Every BMS400600 ships as a complete system including the force plate, OPT-SC Optima amplifier (USB 2.0 digital or analog outputs), 30-foot cable, and full mounting hardware with rails, epoxy, and installation fixtures.

What makes the BMS400600 different from the HPS400600?

Both share the same 40×60 cm form factor and OPTIMA technology, but the HPS (High Performance Series) offers higher precision — ±0.1% measurement accuracy and COP accuracy better than 0.2 mm versus ±0.5% and 0.5 mm for the BMS. The BMS is AMTI's most affordable mountable option and the best choice for most standard biomechanics applications.

What capacity models are available?

The BMS400600 is available in 1000 lb (4450 N), 2000 lb (8900 N), and 4000 lb (17,800 N) Fz capacity models. The 4000 lb model is only available in the standard frequency version, not in the High Frequency (HF) configuration.

Can it be used for bilateral assessments or floor systems?

Yes. Two BMS400600 plates used side by side are ideal for bilateral jump or balance assessments. Multiple plates can be combined using AMTI's Modular Rail System (MRS) to create fully instrumented floor systems for gait labs, sports facilities, or clinical settings.

What is included in the system?

Every BMS400600 ships with the force plate, an OPT-SC Optima amplifier with USB 2.0 digital and analog outputs, a 30-foot force plate-to-amplifier cable, and a complete mounting kit including rails, epoxy, dispenser, and installation fixtures.

What outputs are supported?

The included OPT-SC amplifier provides both digital USB 2.0 and analog outputs, giving flexibility to connect directly to a PC or to third-party data acquisition systems. The amplifier pairs exclusively with AMTI Optima-series force plates.
